Thousands of dancers from over 40 countries compete at the Blackpool Dance Festival, the journalist will explore the world of glitz and glamor from behind the scenes.

Stacey, who won the Glitterball Trophy in 2018 at the popular BBC dance competition, said she “was hooked” as soon as she got involved in the ballroom.

The documentary will give BBC viewers a remarkable insight into the tears and real-life triumphs of hopefuls competing for the British Open title.

Coaches and coaches will show you all the behind the scenes dancing has to offer like Stacey’s company, Little Dooley, will produce the dazzling show.

Stacey said: “As soon as I discovered the amazing world of ballroom and Latin I was hooked!”

Stacey competed with her partner Kevin Clifton on the celebrity show and has had a whirlwind relationship with him ever since.

Kate Phillips, director of Unscripted at the BBC, said: “I am delighted to bring Blackpool’s Ballroom Battle to BBC audiences.

“Little Dooley has done a fantastic job of gaining access to the Blackpool Dance Festival, which has long been a hidden and mysterious world for those outside the dance community.

“In the program, we will have the opportunity to witness absolutely thrilling ballroom dancing and go behind the scenes to see the stamina, hard work and dedication it takes to bring these spectacular dancers to the top.”

The one-off documentary will waltz on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in 2022.
