New gay latin dance class begins in Brisbane

A new Latin and ballroom dance class for same-sex couples has started in Brisbane.

The new Dance With Me classes at New Farm offer dance lessons in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, where like-minded people can come together to learn Latin and ballroom dancing.

“Our goal is to provide a space for those who feel more comfortable dancing with a same-sex partner,” said Kevin, Co-Founder and Dance Teacher of Dance With Me.

“People can come alone, with their partner or with friends. Our philosophy is that everyone is accepted and welcome.

Dance With Me instructors know how important it is to provide a safe and inclusive space for people from all walks of life, regardless of their ability to dance.

“People often think they need to have some dance skills before they come to a class, but the idea is to learn something new,” Kevin said.

“No experience is necessary and the dancers don’t need any special equipment. Just wear comfortable clothes to move around and closed-toe shoes.

“We want to encourage our dancers to accompany us, to have fun, to learn to dance, to get in shape and to make friends. There are so many advantages. “

Two lessons, for all levels, including beginners, are organized every Tuesday in the Uniting Church Hall at 57 Merthyr Road, New Farm.

One class starts at 6:00 p.m. and the second at 6:45 p.m. Admission is $ 15 per person per session. Anyone who attends each of the 45-minute classes can stay longer to practice if they wish.

Then on Saturday August 20, the group hosts an evening of Latin social and ballroom dancing at Uniting Church Hall to which everyone is invited, regardless of their level of dance experience.
