With ballroom classes touring Annkita Dolawwat in the city of Guwahati, professionals from diverse backgrounds joined her to learn how to dance to the rhythms of Latin ballroom dancing by her.

Here’s what these students have to say when it comes to breaking the monotony of their professional lives and how these courses are bringing them positive changes.

Rohini Surekha, Investment Banking ProfessionaI

In my attempt to balance work and family demands, I wore many hats and so the time available to do my own things was reduced to zero. Dancing for me was what I did on the dance floor after a few drinks, but I always aspired to do it well.

So what started as a desire to look good on the dance floor has now turned into a hobby in its own right. I love when I dance with Annkita. I can’t wait for my class!! And I love myself a little more, all thanks to the happy moments spent dancing and I don’t feel guilty.

Tarali Das, Deputy Secretary, Assam Department of Education

Being a civil servant and mother of two daughters, I was very busy with my work and my family life. Of course, I enjoyed every day of life without a second thought. However, as soon as I saw the advertisement for Annkita Dolawwat about Latin dancing, I had a flashback to my childhood memories of dancing lessons.

Instantly, I felt like I had to take the opportunity to learn a new form of dance to make my life more dynamic. Today, I can proudly say that I made the perfect decision to join his classes. Annkita is an excellent ballroom dancing teacher.

In addition, she is very friendly which makes our lessons lively and pleasant. These days, I look forward to my co-partner for Friday ballroom dancing class. This class rejuvenates me for a whole week and made me a confident dancer. My best wishes to Annkita Dolawwat.

Hamad MAR Berlashker, Public Relations Professional

As a communications professional, my endless work requires me to be constantly on the alert. Stress is detrimental to health but also to social life.

I never thought I could find time for the weekly dance classes. But luckily, I not only saved time, but also improved my work-life balance.

An inspiring professional, Annkita’s teaching style is unique and makes the dance form easy and interesting to learn for a professional like me. She gives each of us her full attention. Learning ballroom dancing with Annkita helped me become a better dancer.

My dance education taught me that with a proactive approach, we can always learn new skills and discipline. I’m a better person at the hearing. Dancing made me more agile and helped me in my mental space, giving me 2 hours of total concentration during my learning sessions where I could forget the stress of the day. My body language has also improved tremendously. I am more aware of my health, my body and my mind.

Now I’m looking forward to when Friday comes and I’ll put on my dancing shoes.

The northeast is a culturally rich area where the locals are the most creative people who are very into music and art and Annkita tries to add some ballroom dancing and be part of this beautiful diverse society .

“Ballroom dancing and for that matter any style of dance, I think you teach a lot of things besides just moving to the beats. It teaches musicality, mind and body coordination, flexibility, etiquettes, body language and postures, different cultures around the world due to so many varied styles, history and backgrounds, and much more,” says Annkita.

“I personally think everyone should try to start their day with a little dancing because it creates the magic to come!!” she says.
