DanceXchange Launches New Free Online Dance Classes For Kids and Families

DanceXchange offers a new program of FREE online dance lessons for young people and their families starting Thursday, April 23 and for 4 weeks. Fun, energetic, and suitable for all skill levels, kids’ classes kick off with Bhangra and over the course of 4 weeks include contemporary dance styles, Breakin, and Musical Theater.

These new lessons will last 30 minutes, broadcast live from 4 p.m. every Thursday on DanceXchange Facebook and are aimed at children up to 11 years old, as well as their entire family.

The new program is confirmed as:

THURSDAY 23 April / 4 p.m. – Bhangra with Sohan Kailey

Learn the traditional and Bhangra folk dance moves merged with Sohan’s own contemporary flavor accompanied by a vibrant Bhangra soundtrack.

THURSDAY April 30/4 p.m. – Contemporary with Chris Radford

An explosive and joyful contemporary experience with Afro-fusion influences. Sure to make you smile and sweat!

THURSDAY May 7/4 p.m. – Breakin with Jamaal O’Driscoll
Try out a variety of moves and steps, from Breakin’s hip hop style. Go through the foundational stages involving Toprock, Go-Downs, footwork patterns, and end with a Freeze to tell a story.

THURSDAY May 13/4 p.m. – Musical theater with Katie Row

An energetic session full of fun with a focus on the hit musical Mathilde.

DanceXchange is also delighted to announce that the very popular DXtra Daily online courses for adults, led by regular DanceXchange tutors, have been extended until May 8. With a few classes reaching nearly 750 participants, DXtra Daily Online is proving to be the perfect way to make people feel connected through their 40s in the UK as well as to support people’s wellbeing and fitness. These lessons will continue to be broadcast via Instagram Live.

Our online program now offers 6 FREE lessons per week for all ages and abilities. MONDAY / Ballet / 6.30 p.m. / Conducted by Sebastian Loe
An introduction to the basics of classical ballet, the concepts of core stability, rotation, flexibility, posture and placement.

TUESDAY / Salsa / 6.30 p.m. / Hosted by Helen Calcutt
An authentic Cuban-salsa dance class that combines solid dance technique with all the zest of Cuban rhythms and style, in a fun and energetic way.

WEDNESDAY / Commercial / 6.30 p.m. / Hosted by Michael Brandon
Personalized choreography full of sparkle, dynamic and strong attitude. For beginners who want to learn, progress, have fun and let themselves be pushed.

THURSDAY / Vogue / 8 p.m. / Hosted by Jason Andrew Guest (In partnership with Unmuted & Shout)
Learn how to vogue and bring it on the runway. Learn the basics of vogue and the culture of the ballroom from which it originated. Strike a pose and join DX for an introduction to voguing.

FRIDAY / Contemporary / 6.30 p.m. / Hosted by Laura Vanhulle
Explore the basics of contemporary dance by improving coordination, strength, body alignment and flexibility. A fun course to learn the basics, full of positive energy, focus and fun!

Adult classes will take place on Instagram Live and will be available for 24 hours after class for participants to enjoy at their own pace.
