dance reverie forest hills dance studio offers dance lessons for children

Dance Reverie in Forest Hills, well known in Queens for its adult studio and more specifically its “social dance” classes, now offers dance classes for children.

Children’s dance classes take place Thursday through Saturday and were added in September. Children between the ages of 5 and 18 can take lessons in dance, Latin, ballet, jazz, tap dance, modern, hip-hop and musical theater. Children aged 3 to 5 can participate in “creative movement” classes, which introduce the basics of dance styles. Other Dance Reverie kids dance classes include pointe, drama, and Irish dancing, as well as mom and me classes.

“We are a popular dance studio for adults and we intend to keep our children’s lessons at the same level,” says studio owner Kyle Volkof, who teaches the lessons to the children along with the other dance teachers. Kari Rusinko and Rhonda Cates. Volkof has spent over 10 years dancing and teaching dance. “We believe in quality over quantity when it comes to our courses,” he says.

Kids’ dance classes at Dance Reverie are limited to 10 to ensure every student receives the same attention. Registration is currently open for the Dance Reverie children’s dance program. Starting in December, classes for children will be offered five days a week. New students can register for a free online dance class.

In the community, Dance Reverie instructors donated their free time to the local arts school, JHS 157 Stephen A. Halsey, to introduce dance programs into the classroom. These students performed for the school’s PTA.
