PORT TOWNSEND — The group Discovery Dance, hosts of dances and classes before the pandemic, begin to emerge from their hibernation this evening.
Discovery Dance Board members will be present for an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 209 Monroe St. The meeting is open to anyone interested in hearing about the possibility of a new dance club .
Michael Maddox, a new-to-town dancer, has expressed interest in forming a local dance club in association with USA Dance, a national organization.
“We always welcome new ideas to improve or develop dance in our region,” four members of Discovery Dance wrote in an invitation to tonight’s meeting.
These members – Janice Eklund, Vickie Townsend, Nancy Koch and Sally Kiely – added that the past two years have been difficult for the dance community.
“We’ve just started discussing potential future dances again,” they noted, adding that they’re keen to hear about a possible collaboration with USA Dance and Maddox, who will talk about his vision for dancing in the renovated Legion Hall.
